Update on Internship
So I have still been working on social media marketing for the internship and the newest thing I figured out was the badges on the side on this blog. I was able to add the page and profile for the company to the side of my blog using a code. I did that about a week ago but forgot to write it in my blog. Since then I was offered a full time job at the company. I will be working on event planning and social media marketing for the company. I am extremely excited for job to start after graduation. Follow my Opechee Inn twitter account @OpecheeInn and click on the facebook badges and like the page for me! I am trying to up the followers for both sites.

Social Media Marketing
Throughout my internship I have been working on the social media aspect of the company both for marketing purposes of the company as well as for the project we are doing for class. One thing I decided to create for flyers that we post around the hotel is create a QR code. The QR code leads straight to the homepage for the hotel. On the website you can access spa specials, guest room packages, wedding packages and more. We will be creating different codes for specials as they change quarterly. The code is pasted below.

Property Pictures
The picture above is the Inn and Spa that I am doing my internship at. It is a beautiful property and has a bike/walking path behind it that runs along the lake.
This picture ^ is just one of the views from the balcony of one of the inn's 34 rooms. All the lake side rooms have a private balcony with a view like the one above.
The picture above is the front yard of Opechee Inn which has a great view of the sunset because the Inn faces the west.
The Lake Opechee Inn is a pet friendly hotel and the owners have 3 dogs. These are two of the dogs that are there on a daily basis. On the right is Diamond and the left is Montana. The one that is not pictured is the newest dog and his name is Keegan.
Check out their facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/#!/profile.php?id=100000447768390) or their hotel website (www.opecheeinn.com) for more pictures of the property and of every room. (Each room is decorated different)
Update on Internship
So I am almost finished with my internship but I thought I would just write about what I have been doing. Lately I have been working on the company's social media. I am in charge of updating their Twitter account (@opecheeinn) and researching how we could market the company better through social media marketing. We are working on having business listings with TripAdvisor because a lot of hotels and spas have been helped because of reviews and business listings on Tripadvisor.com. If you haven't been to trip advisor online before I highly suggest it if you are planning on traveling somewhere. You get real reviews and pictures from people that stay there and managers and owners can also respond and explain situations that occur. It is a great place to find the facts about a hotel you are going to stay at. Sometimes the images and amenities listed on websites are not true to what the hotel actually offers. Professional photos are great at making places look better than they are. Also there are many good reviews and it could change your mind about staying at a different hotel because of great customer service or great amenities.
I have also been working with the event planner for the conference center that the inn has attached to it. They host weddings, business meetings, fundraisers, and trade shows and they are extremely busy for this coming summer/spring. I have been learning how to create a proposal, how to create floor plans for events, how to set up catering and all the other things that go along with events. I think that it is definitely going to help me in the real world because you may have to help set up a business meeting or company fundraiser in the future and it is great to understand what goes into creating an event.
My internship is so much fun and I recommend doing an internship to anyone that has an interest in a particular field. It is also a great time to figure out whether or not you want to be in that field before you graduate and apply for jobs. You can also gain a full time job if your internship manager likes you as an employee which would be the best benefit of an internship. Check out some internships around the area if you are interested in getting some real world experience and to up your resume.

Lake Opechee Information
I didn't include any of the information about the inn and spa in the last post but the website is: http://www.opecheeinn.com/ and they also have a facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000447768390. It is popular because 18 out of the 34 rooms there are overlooking the waterfront, Lake Opechee. Also, the conference center that is attached to the inn holds many weddings, business meetings, trade shows and fundraisers. People that attend the events become interested in the hotel and spa because of the great location and the atmosphere that the hotel creates. Every guest room is decorated different so it is fun to come stay more than once to see the different rooms. They offer group rooms for people traveling together as well as pet friendly rooms. The spa offers massages, manicures, pedicures, and other personal care services. There is also a restaurant attached to the Inn but not owned by the same company. That restaurant is also very popular and brings guests into the hotel. If you want to see pictures of the hotel rooms, conference center, or spa click on either the facebook page or the website because they have some great pictures and information.
Internship Overview
I am a senior in my last semester at Plymouth State University. I will be graduating with a Bachelors degree in Business Management. I am currently doing a three credit internship through Plymouth State at a Hotel in Laconia, NH. The hotel I am working at is Lake Opechee Inn & Spa and also has an attached conference center where events and trade shows are held. I thought I would create this blog about my internship and what I have been doing the days that I am working. Since I am a business management major I have been working with the owners (also known as the general managers) in different departments of the Inn because management usually includes many different aspects of a business. I have only been there for a couple of weeks but so far I have worked with the innkeepers, event planners, spa directors, and front desk staff. I realize how much time and energy it takes to own a business just from watching all that the owners do around the inn and spa. I will keep updating on things that I find interesting about my day to day work during my internship.
